THE PINK ERA   - 2012
a site specific installation in the coastal town of GarĂ°ur
in the southwest of Iceland.

BERGHALL  Olga Bergmann & Anna Hallin

Molds were made from selected items on display in the local folk museum then cast in pink concrete and arranged in an excavation-like setting close to house ruins in the village.
The installation is reminiscent of model kits for assembly but the work also creates a layer in the ground of petrified man made artifacts that no longer have any meaning or significance
This work evolves around ideas concerning how relative our understanding of time is.
All indication about the origins of man point to the fact that the time Homo sapiens has walked the earth is but a moment in geo-historical context.
The Pink Era also has references to methods used in archeology and to how ideas and theories concerning the nature and purpose of historical objects is often formed and influenced by the value systems of each new epoch
