Guido van der Werve - Nummer veertien, home
Van der Werve has created a variety of works, including a series of film and videos and a musical composition, titled by number in chronological order from two to fourteen. He often plays the protagonist in his satirical yet deadpan work, investigating such themes as melancholy and alienation. The film on display; nummer veertien, home – van der Werve's latest film and a key work in van der Werve's oeuvre – poetically interweaves tales of Alexander the Great, the death of Frédéric Chopin, and van der Werve’s own personal narrative. It documents the artist's 1,000-mile triathlon (swimming, biking, and running) from Warsaw to Paris, from Chopin's native land of Poland to his grave in France. The work follows the structure of a requiem, composed by Van der Werve himself, consisting of 3 parts and 12 acts.

Kristleifur Björnsson - Girls
Björnsson’s image based work is constructed both around his original photography and also images found on the Internet and in other public media. His work blurs the line between private and public, looking at how the culture industry and everyday life echo each other. While his work superficially seems to suggest a banal obsession, Björnsson is interested more in the power of images, the impact they have on our lives, and the apparent urgency with which they demand an immediate response. In one of the series on display the artist documents a one-year ritual in which he hung an image of Natalie Portman close to his bed wherever he stayed. Another series is based on repeated tracings of the face of actress Olivia Wilde with a pencil, while the third reveals a persistent gaze at a woman sitting on a bus.

The Sequences Art Festival was established in 2006 and will be held for the sixth time in spring 2013 and biannually onwards.
The festival celebrates and exhibits cutting-edge visual art. It aims at creating an international platform, focusing on the broad spectrum of time-based arts.
The Sequences Art Festival is founded and run by The Icelandic Art Center, The Living Art Museum, Kling & Bang gallerí and Dwarf gallery, but most galleries, museums and cultural institutions in the Reykjavík area have been involved.
