OPENING SATURDAY 17th of AUGUST AT 5 pm.
The works in the exhibition bear Þórisson's artistic characteristics; the subtle color palette, ambiguous characters and aloof but strong shapes in steady advancement. The color shades are subtly reaching a balance and the canvases have enlarged, giving way to increased freedom and a different flow. His source images used to be, among other, found photographs from the internet and books but now he creates autonomous images with some reference to his older works. Ragnar Þórisson had devoted himself to painting long before graduating from the Fine Arts department of the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2010. He started his studies certain that painting was his medium and spent his time at the academy developing his paintings. Since graduating he has worked vigorously as a painter and relentlessly strives to actualize his clear vision. The exhibition at Kling & Bang is a milestone on that route.
