Sometimes an artwork can reveal attributes of one's personality. You may not be acquainted with the artist but through the artwork you may detect kinship. Usually we leave it at that, maybe faintly hoping we’ll get to sit side by side in a group show one day.
But it's also possible to pick up this seed and see if it can grow.

Sometimes it's just really nice to create something together. Throw out a snare, see if someone catches on, fumble with something and find its form. Maybe I will create something I find pathetic but in it you’ll see something worthwhile. I´ll let you finish what I started or maybe, when you’ve had enough I’ll take over. Together we open up to new possibilities and through honest dialogue we trudge onwards. Through collaboration we find the freedom to try new methods and materials. Opportunities arise to widen the horizon, to learn from one another, to share responsibilities, to give space and claim space, to lead and to follow. To learn to trust in the journey and to let things rest when they need more time. To learn to nurture the spirit, to mind one another and to give each one room to shine.

Like with so many things in life, art is not only a destination but a journey, and not necessarily intended to stun or mesmerize but to share something we find hard to put into words. A point of view, surprise, joy, disgust, sorrow, curiosity — a vision, clear to no one until its been put together, and which would never have come together in precisely this manner had the road to actualisation swerved in the slightest. It would then have become something else, no lesser and no better, and even though that multitude of versions will never see the light of day there is no loss.

feigðarós — dreamfields is not a traditional group exhibition but our collaborative artwork - a show where our individual ideas and artistic palettes have blended and transformed as we get to know each other's work and thought processes.

The installation is an immersive environment where viewers can walk around sculptures that ultimately render an otherworldly vista. We offer a journey of organic, simulated, abstract and invented textures in a landscape implying desolation while drawing up scenes both in miniature and monumental scale.

Parallel to the installation we photographed textural experiments placed in otherworldly surroundings - exhibited both in the show and catalogue. The catalogue also has new textworks written by four Icelandic authors; Bergþóra Snæbjörnsdóttir, Guðrún Eva Mínervudóttir, Gunnar Theodór Eggertsson and Tyrfingur Tyrfingsson who thoughtfully shared their ideas and input, giving different frameworks for our artwork.

The exhibition is funded by the Icelandic Visual Arts Fund and the Artist Salary Fund/Rannís.
The publication is funded by the Icelandic Visual Arts Fund and Myndstef.
