paintings - MAPPING A CONVERSATION , wall paper paintings, 2005

MAPPING A CONVERSATION - my thoughts regarding this work have orbited around how we are all connected together through various systems that we have to relate to in various ways. Patterns and systems like communication systems, family patterns, leisure/vacation activities, the sewer system, work, rules and regulations, eating habits, gender roles, and technological landscapes.  Some systems one can move out of or escape from, others one can embrace or disappear into.  Some systems are more predestinated than others are and based on various presumed aspects and therefore not as changeable even if they have a very short history behind them.  Things that we take for granted today but were completely alien to us yesterday and wise versa.

Sources of inspiration for these shapes have among other things been: inflatable things, underwater creatures and other single cell beings and science fiction and futuristic design from the fifties
