Ana Istaru
Ana Istaru (l960) has five published books of poems. Her
first was published when she was fifteen and her second
at age sixteen for which she won a national poetry
prize in Costa Rica. Her fourth volume, Season
of Lust won the Central American EDUCA prize in 1983
and was published in another edition in Spain (Torremozas,
1986). She has won the best actress award in Costa
Rica more than several times and writes plays that are
being staged and performed in her country, Spain and nations
of South America. Her latest manuscript titled Death
and Other Ephemeral Wrongs was published by Editorial
Costa Rica.
Translations of Istaru's poetry by Zoe Anglesey
have appeared in BOMB Magazine, A Soho Arts Magazine,
The Raddle Moon (Canada), the Latin American double
issue of The Massachusetts Review, Crab Creek Review,
Conditions, Maryland Poetry Review, Colorado Review, Five
Fingers Review, Campages and in the anthologies:Ê
