& BERGHALL

STAFF HOUSE:
The building defines the entrance to the whole area, standing as the eastern wall of the buildings that are yet to come. The structure consists of two main masses.  White concrete walls in contrast to walls made of local basaltic stone set the mark on the building's appearance.

The artwork in the building is based on close dialogue
between artists Berghall and Arkibullan architects.

A permanent installation of photographs is placed in the entrance and stairway of the building.
Berghall conducted a research and made a selection from historical photographs of funerals
that are kept in the photo collections of The National Museum of Iceland and the Reykjavik
Museum of Photography. The photographs are Diasec mounted black and white prints, the
oldest image was taken in 1886.
