When the saucepan is empty, the porridge eaten, a thin film remains on the inside of the container, which gradually dries out to form a brittle membrane.
In some places it is loose, but in most it sticks fast. In order to remove it, it is best to leave the saucepan to stand for a while with a little water in it. The film comes away, and swims like a mass in the water, then settles. Then it resembles either a jelly-like marine creature near the surface of the ocean, that absorbs the brightness and reflection of the morning, or it takes on the form of clouds high in the skies at sunset; layers of varying thickness that absorb the light - or reflect it, according to density.
