The thick, shiny auburn hair has been brushed, combed
and plaited so that it cannot be blown into the face
when out of doors. In the brush, the hairs remain
that were pulled out by brushing, thoroughly entangled
in the brush bristles. When they have been removed,
they are placed in the palm of the hand and rolled
between the hands, as when one moulds clay into a
ball. They are bundled together by this, and by a
movement of the hand one may choose between the spherical
form, or a more oblong one. The space of the bundle
will, however, always remain airy and light, for the
lines of each hair describe their own orbit –
they contain tension and flexibility, so their density
is limited. Within the form a certain space has come
into existence, which is a world of its own. Each
one of the many lines that designate the form contains
infinite information. They contain data on the personal
appearance and physical build of ancestors. In their
modesty they even contain predictions of the qualities
of unborn descendants.
